An Introduction to Nonpoint Source Pollution Prevention by
Satellite-Broadcast Videoconference

November 1, 1995

1 - 5 PM Eastern Time

Soil and water professionals, local government officials and private
citizens who are concerned with water quality will be interested in a
satellite-broadcast videoconference on November 1, 1995, 1 - 5 PM Eastern
time, on water quality and nonpoint source pollution prevention, produced by
Cornell Cooperative Extension and the Department of Soil, Crop, and
Atmospheric Sciences, Cornell University.

The videoconference is designed to provide basic technical information for
watershed management and nonpoint source (nps) pollution control and
pointers about sources of technical information for watershed management.
Pre-taped segments will provide technical information on watersheds,
watershed hydrology, groundwater, and soils. An example of groundwater
protection from Nassau County, Long Island, New York will illustrate the
technical concepts. Live presentations will provide information on
resources, such as land inventory and soil analysis, available for watershed
managers.

Sponsored by Cornell Cooperative Extension, US EPA/NYS Department of
Environmental Conservation Section 319 Program funds, and the Cooperative
State Research, Education, and Extension Service, U.S. Department of
Agriculture (under special project number 94-EWQI-1-9059), the
videoconference objectives are:

To provide basic technical information on watershed management and nps
pollution control.
To point out some sources of technical information, such as land use, soils
and hydrologic data, on watersheds.
To provide a focus for further development of local water quality programs.

Recertification credits for NYS pesticide applicators, water operators,
wastewater treatment plant operators, and certified crop advisors are being
sought.
