I am looking for any existing research/feasibility analyses of utilizing
compost in farm applications. Specifically, I am trying to determine
typical per acre costs of pesticides and fertilizers in the Western U.S.
so that I can evaluate costs/benefits of using compost either in lieu of,
or in addition to, these inputs.
Also, any information regarding substitution rates would be greatly
appreciated. (ie: If I apply x tons per acre of compost as a soil
amendment, how much can I expect to reduce my use of fertilizer and/or
pesticides?)
