The International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), in Los Banos, The
Philippines, has developed a simple but efficient cookstove that burns rice
leftovers (straw, hulls). It's part of an innovative program at IRRI that
develops useful agricultural equipment that village shade-tree mechanics can
duplicate. IRRI puts its plans into the public domain. I've seen the rice
straw cooker at work, and it's quite impressive. Hot, too.
