Chuck, I can=92t believe that you are really willing to dismiss the wildl=
ife
habitat question -- the largest possible loss of wildlife since the Age o=
f
the Dinosaurs through habitat loss (primarily by extending low-yield
agriculture) -- with the one word =93amusing.=94 I=92m sure the wildlife=

appreciates your amusement. It must be that you just haven=92t come up w=
ith a
good =93organically-correct=94 answer yet. =

But remember, one of the historic justifications for organic farming has =
been
that it was kinder to wildlife. That=92s why you have the public=92s ap=
proval!

Now that countries like Indonesia have demonstrated their willingness to
destroy millions of acres of tropical forests and dam up whole regions=92=
worth
of migratory fish populations to get high-protein diets, the wildlife
contributions of organic farming look pretty small. In fact, they=92re
negative. Most of the wildlife the world is losing has been the result o=
f
extending low-yield organic farming methods in countries like Ecuador and=

Nigeria. =
