Snail Farming

Back in 1988, a snail farmer, R.V. Johnson wrote a 100 page
manual on snail farming. It was titled Snail Production
Techniques, and sold by Frescargot Farms in Sanger, CA.

Ted Fisher, who is now retired from UC Riverside, told me
about several organic citrus growers in southern California,
who turned from snail control in their orchards to raising
snails for sale to gourmet markets and the export market
[e.g. France]. Apparently, there is a snail shortage in
Europe, and snail collecting permits are needed. If you
drop a letter to UCR, it will probably get passed on to
Dr. Fisher, who could connect you with snail farmers.

Good luck,
