News from ECOLOGICAL AGRICULTURE PROJECTS (EAP), McGill Un.

Recently, I have received a few inquiries about developments concerning
Dr. Stuart Hill, and the future of Ecological Agriculture Projects at
McGill University. There seems to be a bit of speculation about these
developments, and so I am posting this as a news item of interest to
those working in the field of sustainable agriculture.

After 26 years at McGill, in the Faculty of Agricultural and
Environmental Sciences, Dr. Stuart B. Hill has requested an unpaid
leave from the university so that he may join his partner, Judy Pinn,
in Australia at the University of Western Sydney-Hawkesbury. Here he
hopes to continue his work in facilitating social change towards more
sustainable ways of living and relating.

Stuart will be leaving behind EAP, which he has directed since its
creation in 1974. Over the past 22 years, he and the EAP team have
assembled what is one of the best document collections on sustainable
agriculture in the world, and provided an invaluable information
service to hundreds of individuals and organizations.

Despite the importance of this collection, and its relevance to solving
many of our current dilemmas, EAP's level of funding is minimal, and
its future is in danger. Ways need to be found to secure the necessary
funding ($100,000 to 300,000/year) to enable EAP to continue providing
the supports necessary for needed social change.

Any suggestions or support would be welcome, and you can still contact
Dr. Hill through,
