I just received a copy of a very interesting looking book, "The Humanure
Handbook: A Guide to Composting Human Manure" by Joseph Jenkins, which I
ordered from Jenkins Publishing, PO Box 607, Grove City, PA 16127 USA. I
paid $15 US, including postage, but I don't know the price for postage
elsewhere. It's certainly not a "glossy page" publication, but it looks
like solid information.
The author apologizes to the reader because of the quality of the photos.
He says, "When I showed my dog his picture on page 183 he laughed out loud.
He thought it was humorous that the Ashland, Ohio printer who printed this
book did such a lousy job on the halftones (photos) that old Rufus became
invisible. In fact, try to find the wheelbarrow on page 45, or the Clivus
on pages 94 and 95. I didn't think it was funny at all, and I offer this
apology to the reader. Next time I'll use a better printer. In the
meantime, let's look at the bright side -- this extra crappy first printing
is sure to become a collector's item!"
The author emphasizes "minimum technology and maximum hygienic safety."
