I am doing some research for an organization in Madison, WI called Cooperative
Developement Services, which is developing the Upper Midwest Organic Markets
Project. This is an effort to create a market-based model for encouraging a
safer, more environmentally sound food supply.
For this project, I am attempting to track down information concerning
environmental and economic impacts of organic vs. conventional farming.
The following are questions we are attempting to answer:

What are the positive and negative economic and environmental impacts of
organic farming in the Upper Midwest?

What are the environmental impacts of pesticide use in the Upper Midwest?

What are the economic costs of excessive fertilizer use in the Upper Midwest?

How do yields and procitability of organic farming copare with conventional
farming?

What are the economic impacts of organic farming to local communities?
