How can we know until we ask the questions? But what do you mean by "better"?
Higher yields?
More profit for the farmer?
More biodiversity on farms?
Improved health for the people who eat the food?
Happier farmers?
Healthier farmers?
Healthier earth?

If we research the problem and find that the answer is "not better" does
that mean that people have wasted valuable time? Does a "no" answer mean we
wasted time?

It appears that the answer is still unknown and maybe that justifies
research and resources.
