This is my first message on sanet, so pardon any improprieties! Your
research, Judy, sounds incredible.
My feeling about "marketscape" is that first off it conjures thoughts of
capitalism and the economic market, which might be desirable in one way.
But don't forget that you can create a term and with enough use people
will get used to it and the term will have a unique meaning as defined by
you in your book. Just reading your outline gave the term a context and
new meaning.
As for the local/global issue, I agree with your thesis. I'm wondering
if the point is to get as much commerce and human interaction to the
local level; what we are doing here on sanet is global and yet very
personal and "integrated" on at least one level (although I realize this
is not an economic situation). If the world is going to continue to
globalize then we need to help it do so in the most sustainable way. But
maybe I'm off on a tangent and not addressing your topic!
