For those of you interested in how the budget process is going to impact
money available for various USDA programs, you may find Sen. Domenici's
March 16, 1995 testimony before the Sen. Ag Com. enlightening. We raised
the budget cutting ante to $50 billion from all USDA programs, a figure
derived simply by estimating the percentage cut needed across all
domestic programs to meet Repub. budget goals. This figure will drift up
and down, a billion here a billion there. It is accessible through the
farm bill/sus. ag. web page I announced a couple of weeks ago.
Also, you can get the ex. sum. of the Environmental Working
Group's rpeort, "City Slickers" and the ex, sum. of the Sus Ag
Coalition's report on WQIP done by Liz Higgins. We also have put in all
the Campaign for Sus. Ag's position papers, as well as the Coalition for
a Competitive Food System. Check it out; it will change rapidly as the
farm bill and budget process cycles unfold.

The full text of AFT's comprehensive farm commodity and
conservation policy proposal is also now accessible.
