I have worked with Karl over the past several years on sustainable
agricultue issues, and have had opportunities to discuss with him his views
on rural development. He has a healthy suspicion of the motives of land
grant ag colleges, a distrust of big ag, and a real feel for the person on
the land and in the small communities. >

I have heard over the years universal praise of Karl. He is bright,
committed, ready to do battle with the establishment, and very much tuned in
to sustainable ag issues.>

> Yes, he will be a good undersecretary for the above reasons. We are
fortunate to have someone of his caliber get so high up in SEE.
