I was surprised to find an article mentioning waxy corn in the American
Agriculturalist Dec 94' the day after I posted an info request concerning
waxy corn.
The article reads as follows:

New Life for waxy corn ?
Commercial corn breeders contend they are closing the gap between new
waxy hybrids and conventional corn. If so, that may make them more
palatable to dairy and pork producers.
Numerous feeding trials suggest that the more digestable starches
improve feed efficiency and production in cattle and hogs. Hog trial data
suggest 15% higher average gains and an 8% increase in feed efficiency.
