In case you weren't aware of it, IPMnet has completed its first
year of operation. There are now on this service nearly 1,300 registrants
representing over 30 countries, thus opening up the potential for extensive
dialog and info sharing with colleagues regarding what works in IPM and
what needs more research, as well as who is doing what to foster and extend
the concept.

Issue #12 of the IPMnet NEWS, a commemorative issue, was recently
posted on the IPMnet bulletin board. Along with feature stories not found
elsewhere, there are provocative opinion pieces, an extensive international
calendar of events related to IPM, and coverage of print, equipment, and
other resources.

IPMnet's administrator has continually sought to upgrade the
BB and increase the possibilities for connection. In addtion to FTP,
TELNET, and FINGER, one of the more recent developments is to provide
access to download the IPMnet NEWS via e-mail only, using FTPMAIL.

To get the newsletter via FTPMAIL, received in your mailbox like
any other e-mail message, address a message to an FTPMAIL server. Here is
one example:
(you keyboard)
-------------------------
== address to: ftpmail@sunsite.unc.edu

== subject: (leave blank)

== message: connect ftp.cicp.vt.edu
(4 lines, with chdir pub/cicp/news
spaces as shown) get ipmnews
quit

Most FTPMAIL servers are busy, so be patient and allow a lot of time.

Those of us associated with the pioneering IPMnet hope this is,
and will continue to be, a useful information resource. Don't hesitate to
contact us for registration (it's free) information. Feedback, of course,
is not only welcome, but sought.
