I am looking for contacts in the crop associations for additional
seeding/harvest/nutrient parameters to expand the Farming for Maximum
Efficiency (MAX) software program. Crops to be added for which I need
basic U.S. production information include:

Rice
Canola
Cotton
Grain Sorghum
Sunflowers
Navy Beans
Black Beans
Sugar Beets
Peanuts

The types of groups I'm looking for are representative groups
such as National Corn Growers Association, American Soybean
Association, etc..

Also, for anyone willing to assist with basic harvest unit data
(UNITS, not actual amounts), please feel free to read and complete the
attached information sheet. Include your name and profession with any
completed forms. Thanks!

1994 MAX CROP-SPECIFIC UNITS AND RATES

Throughout the Midwest a program called Farming for Maximum
Efficiency (MAX) has been in place for several years with corn and
soybean producers. Developed by Purdue University, Successful Farming
magazine, and the Conservation Technology Information Center in
association with Iowa Soil Conservation Service, Illinois Department
of Agriculture, and numerous regional sponsors, the program takes
farmer submitted information (i.e. seeding, fertilizer & pesticide
rates, implement usage, harvest weights and moistures, soil types,
etc.) and assigns a standardized cost to each imput. A profit (or
loss) is then calculated for each field. The program was originally
developed to show farmers using "new" conservation practices, such as
no-till, that even if yields are slightly decreased the loss of other
inputs (i.e. multiple implement passes) often still allowed for an
increase in profit.

Presently program participants have asked that the program be
expanded to include crops not commonly grown in the Midwest. Since few
Purdue specialists are expert in these crops and we are finding state
by state unit variances, we are asking for your assistance. Below is
a listing of seeding, harvest, and nutrient removal parameters needed
for the program. Can you assist by filling in information where

MAX Crop Specific Units and Rates

Note: Most of this deals with what UNIT (i.e. tons, pounds, CWT,
bushels) that the crop would be reported in, not the actual rates
themselves. That information will be provided by the participating
farmers enrolled in MAX.

Seeding:

Seeding Units Reported by Farmer (i.e. Lbs.): _________
