I have been asked by an international development organization to develop a
4-week course on soil classification and mapping for a group of Nicaraguan
foresters. The request was for a 3-week training of theory and a 1-week field
practicum to be given in Nicaragua in November or December of this year. I
am interested in communicating with any foresters (or others) (is there a
forestry electronic bulletin board?) who have experience in soil mapping
with an application to timber/forestry potential. Also, if anyone has an
interest in collaborating with me in this project, please contact me. Spanish
language ability is preferred, but is not essential for the field mapping
practicum. Travel and per diem are covered, but the assignment is voluntary.
Any suggestions for relevant written materials, individual contacts, etc., are
greatly appreciated.
