*Border Right-to-Know Project: The 1993 Northeastern Sonora
Pilot Inventories, 1994.* Enlace Ecologico, A.C. (EECO) and
Arizona Toxics Information, Inc. (ATI). This inventory
represents the first systematic public collection and analysis
of hard data on toxics use by small farmers and U.S.-owned
maquiladoras in three communities of Mexico's northern border
zone. The agricultural component of the project surveyed
pesticide use on small farms in the rural northeastern Sonora
communities of Fronteras and Santa Cruz. The industrial
component surveyed hazardous materials use and release by
maquiladoras in the northeastern Sonora city of Agua Prieta.
