1994 Conference Proceedings of the fourth annual Leopold
Center conference "Sustainable Agriculture: People,
Products, and Profits," will soon be available.

This event focused on the consumer's stake in agriculture,
how industrialization is restructuring food production, and
who stands to profit from agriculture, both now and in the
future.

The proceedings features papers by speakers Neil Hamilton,
director of the Agricultural Law Center at Drake University,
Des Moines, Iowa; Bill Heffernan, professor of rural
sociology at the University of Missouri-Columbia; and Amy
Barr, director, Good Housekeeping Institute, New York City.

This 65-page book offers numerous additional diverse
perspectives on the interaction among people, products, and
profits. It relays views from farmers, agribusiness,
educators, and consumers about how they envision Iowa
agriculture in the year 2001. Other sections explore the
concept and the future of the family farm and convey lively
discussion among experts about alternatives to typical
commodity-oriented production.

The proceedings also includes comments and suggestions
offered by conference attendees and Leopold Center
constituents during a special conference-day "listening
post."

The proceedings are available to non-participants for $5 per
copy. If you attended the 1994 Leopold Center conference,
you will receive a complimentary copy of the proceedings.
Participants in the Kellogg Foundation hub networking
conference may also receive a complimentary copy upon
request.
