Hi everybody. My name is Alexandra Taylor. I currently work on an organic
farm in Napa, California. I have a B.A. in Bioanthropology (relevant only
in that it is not related to Agricultural Science), and am interested in
going to graduate school with a focus on sustainable agriculture or organic
farming. I am particularly fascinated with the effects of planting
practices on plant health and nutrition. Simply stated, I greatly enjoy
helping the plants come out of the ground. I love what I'm doing, and am
very excited at the prospect of concentrated classroom study, but I must
admit that I could use some assistance in obtaining an exact description of
what this kind of study is called.

Would this be agronomy? Agricultural Science? Something else? I've been
through grad school catalogs, trying to find institutions, particularly in
the states of California, North Carolina, Oregon and Washington, which offer
the kind of curriculum I'm looking for, but without much luck. It is very
frustrating-- I know exactly what I want to study, but cannot determine the
name of the field which describes it. I know where I want to study, but
this lack of definition prohibits me from determining if the subject is
offered there.

I would be very grateful for any help anybody could provide. Thanks,

Alexandra Taylor
