This is a statement at the beginning of one of AFT's publications:

"American Farmland Trust is a private, nonprofit conservation organization
founded in 1980 to protect the nation's agricultural resources. AFT works
to stop the loss of productive farmland and to promote farming practices
that lead to a healthy environment. Its action-oriented programs include
public education, technical assistance in policy development and direct
farmland protection practices. Minimum annual membership is $20."

National Office: American Farmland Trust; 1920 N Street, N.W.; Suite 400;
Washington, D.C. 20036; 202-659-5170 phone; 202-659-8339 fax

I am impressed with AFT. Not only due I commend their farmland retention
efforts, they are an excellent source of information.
