The Illinois Stewardship Alliance, an organization of people interested
in sustainable agriculture and rural development, is looking for
information to include in a resource book for communities considering
or anticipating nearby development of large-scale poultry or swine
production facilities. In this resource book we hope to include
material on the local economic, social, and environmental impacts, both
positive and negative, that such facilities have had in other
communities, as well as information about how communities have
organized to promote, oppose, and guide the facilities' development.

The kind of material we're hoping to locate includes:

projections of facilities' economic, social, environmental, and other
impacts (short-term or long-term, and for specific facilities or
facilities in general)

analyses and accounts of facilities' impacts on local commerce,
employment, income, governmental institutions, community organizations,
families, individuals, quality of life, &c.

other information related to large-scale production facilities that
might be useful for grass-roots organizing to support, oppose, or guide
development of such facilities (including such things as how long such
facilities tend to remain in a community, the long-term experiences of
communities that have such facilities, the experiences of communities
where such facilities have left the community, &c.)
