cover crop species questions

Farmers in New York state and similar climates:

I am setting up an experiment to study the effects of different cover crop species on soil organic matter and aggregate formation at Cornell University. I will be comparing several winter annual legumes and non-legumes. The work follows up on some studies I did at Rodale Institute and will involve following carbon inputs from roots into various fractions of active soil organic matter. So far I plan on using hairy vetch, forage rape, rye, wheat. I'm looking for some additional species to use in the experiment, especially a couple more legume species that do well in the climate up there. (I know the winter is more severe than here in southeastern PA, I'm moving up there next month.) Any suggestions?

Thanks very much.
