Iowa Farmer Today Online - Midwestern Agriculture at its bestGreetings to
All,

This should come as no surprise, at least not to anyone who ever went to the
original Disneyland in Southern California up until about 1980.

The "Monsanto Ride" was one of the first things that you went on in
Tomorrowland. They sponsored the ride that showed all the cool science
things that were happening, and the last "event" was the carriage swinging
around to position the riders under an image of a giant eye staring at us
through a microscope (eeeeewwwwwww! I can still recall us little girls
squealing).

This connection goes back to at least 1965 - that's the earliest time I
recall going, and I was just a little spud!

This ride provided name-brand recognition from an early age. It was not
until I was 23 or 24 that I began to learn the other side of the Monsanto
story. But this company enjoyed at 16 year ride of good vibes in my
consciousness simply because I didn't know better.

I think the only difference is that we were all much more innocent and
trusting then, and perhaps we are now once bitten, twice shy. Or, at least,
some of us are.

But this connection is no surprise.
