Dear Sanet readers,
Does anyone have information about organic production without the use of
soil? I understand the NOSB Rule does not specifically exclude this
type of production but I've yet to see any precedence for it. I'm not
particularly enamoured of growing food without soil as I think it
bypasses the basic tenant of organic agriculture - care of the soil.
However, here in B.C. there has been a fair bit of interest ( a lot)
from commercial greenhouse growers in organic production (the potential
is obvious) and it is important that we set up protocols for commercial
greenhouse production before somebody else (less scrupulous) does.
Paddy
