Greetings from a part of the country which has been dry for months and
finally has had three consecutive days with at least a trace of rain.
Sorry to hear about too much rain in New York. I agree with the comment
about unstable weather patterns with global warming. Here in southeast
Arizona, we've started our monsoon season early, and a welcome relief it
is after an EXTREMELY dry winter and spring. Actually, what we've gotten
the last few days is more like our winter rains (when they come which
they haven't the last two years)--gentle rain without wind, so they are
ESPECIALLY welcome.
We can anticipate a reasonable amount of rain off and on through August,
so I'm optimistic about the prospects of a good season this year. Of
course, the weeds will grow faster than what I plant and the grasshoppers
will be a challenge, but I'm used to those. Now, at least, the wildlife
(including grasshoppers) will have things to eat outside of my tiny
irrigated garden.
I'm afraid I don't have any stories about what to do with too much rain
or know any too-much-rain jokes, but next time you want to write a
chapter on too little rain, let me know. I'm well versed on that
subject.
