POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH POSITION IN WEED ECOLOGY AND MANAGEMENT, Iowa State
University, Department of Agronomy.

We seek a postdoctoral research associate to become a member of a
multidisciplinary team working to understand the impacts of composted swine
manure on weed/crop interactions and weed seed bank ecology. Specific
project objectives are to: a) to identify how application of an organic
amendment to soil alters weed population dynamics, weed community
composition, and weed-crop interactions, and b) to determine the influence
of weed seed size and seedling emergence order on responses to soil
conditions. The associate will be responsible for developing and executing
field, laboratory, and glasshouse experiments to meet project objectives.
The successful candidate will possess a Ph.D. in agronomy, soil science,
weed science, plant ecology, plant pathology, microbial ecology, or a
related field with knowledge of plant biology and ecology. Ability to work
in a team and excellent verbal and written communication skills are
required. The position is available September 2000 and will continue for a
maximum of three years. Submit application materials, including a CV,
