Hi Everyone:
RE: maracas-- plant source?
Does someone out there know the tree or plant used in Mexico to make
maracas (the musical *instrument*)? The dried fruit has the shape of a
nut or round gourd about 10-12 cm in diameter. We have some trees here
in Hawaii that produce similar fruit, but would like to learn about the
plant used in Mexico for this purpose. Here, they are actually used as
an ornament in Hula dancing. We have a demand of about 2,000 per month
with annual volumes purchased 2-3 times per year. I would also
appreciate learning about any potential suppliers.
Thx,
