Re: Organic and Sustainable (was Re: It Leaves us speechless)

I think Mike is right. To quote Rodney King, "Can't we all just get along?"

Both Steve and Larry (although I'm not sure if he goes by Larry or Lawrence)
are correct, but both are different. And both have valid points, and have
different methods for increasing soil health (which is the most important and
ultimately sustainable point). We need to agree to disagree, and continue to
"fight against the greater evil" of Avery/Cougar.

I could put my two cents in about this stuff in this forum (and likely will
given the time and inclination, neither of which I currently possess) but right
now I think it's important to let the gov't know how we feel.

While it would be nice to have a group consensus to make a strong statement,
that's not an issue currently. It's as pointless for us to throw pies at at
Dan Glickman (even if they are uncomposted cow pies) as it was for whoever
threw it at the Nutrition summit! That 15 seconds of fame got her arrested and
labeled a Kook! While our infighting isn't the same, it's not too different
either.

The soil population is so complex that it manifestly cannot
be dealt with as a whole with any detail by any one person,
and at the same time it plays so important a part in the soil
economy that it must be studied.
