Diane,

I have been drawn into these conversations to many times and I have said the same thing I am going to say here at least once before. Yep Gordon*s attacks and humor are rude, miss a lot of the legitimate points of Sustainable thought and maybe they really are over the top. But Diane, I am sorry, all I see is a predictable mirror image of the prevailing organic attitude that is so often manifest here on SANET. After more than twenty years as an organic activists and six years as a Federal bureaucrat who*s responsibility it was to work directly with the organic community, frankly I think that calling someone else rude is what my grandma used to call *the pot calling the kettle black*.

The organic faction seized what they considered to be the ethical and moral high ground and have with the aid and assistance of the national greens proceeded to throw rocks (which were for the most part half truths and misinterpretations) at the *conventional agricultural sector* for the past twenty odd years. So now a reactionary faction of Agri-biz turns around and hits you over the head with a stick and you want to cry foul. It was inevitable and as I have also said before: they are currently unsophisticated and are using half truths as the organic faction has for so long, what if they ever get a load of the truth about the organic situation (circa Bart*s analysis) what then?

At some point I think that we are going to have to gain some sort of *holistic* perspective, stop calling each other names and start figuring out where agriculture will be going in the next one hundred years. It was so easy to be righteous and thirty but it*s damn hard to be over fifty and agnostic.

Best to all,

Ted
