Is not comparing total pounds of herbicide use between soybean fields like
comparing the total amount of condiments we put on our dinner? It really
doesn't tell you if you are using too much salt vs. pepper or other
flavorings, or if your blood pressure is going to be affected or not, or
even what your food is going to taste like. The important questions are
glossed over by lumping all herbicides together. I know there some
differences in the potential for leaching, lifespan in the soil, potential
danger to non-target organisms, etc. between these herbicides that would
seem to be more important than just the amount applied. A tablespoon of
salt does not equal a tablespoon of pepper.
