You are not speaking of sustainability you are speaking of idealogy.
Certainly the ideal is farm organisms or agricultural individualities that
manifest quasi-closed nutrient cycles(there can never be any truly
freestanding closed nutrient cycles unless you have a really big bell jar).
Such farms or individualities are rare, I believe that Bart has made it quite
clear that they are becoming rarer rather than more prevalent in the
organic community. Sustainable and organically grown are becoming
less compatible terms by the hour.
