Correction for embodied energy info

DISREGARD my prior comment about the embodied energy table on page 404
of Loomis and Connor's Crop Ecology.

There was a question about why the embodied energy of paraquat and
glyphosate is much higher than that of ammonia-derived fertilizer.

According to Loomis (personal communication, May 2000)

"herbicides are endproducts of long synthesis chains whereas NH3
production is via a very short and rather efficient one"

I initially said "Cancel that last thought......" but the list rejects messages which begins with "cancel" so it didn't get through. Sorry for anyone's being misled.
