Surely this is joke, I keep thinking...

How much would it cost to pasteurize all the nation's eggs? (Not to mention
the nutritional effect). Couldn't this money (guess who will pay) be better
used to dismantle the current industrialized egg production system (cause
of the problem) and give credit, build infrastructure and provide
technical assistance to small farmers to supply their local markets with
free-range organic eggs?

At least we could have an open, democratic discussion of the alternatives
before we have yet another technological "fix" to problems caused by bad
corporate technology crammed down our throats. How much will people take,
really?
