Dear John,

If you are interested in some of the issues confronted by the
organic/sustainable movement in the early 90's, you might want to seek out
a set of the 4 years's worth of Organic Farmer: The Digest of Sustainable
Agriculture. It was published from 1989-1994, and each issue focused on a
theme, such as animals, water, biotech, women in agriculture, international
ag, etc. We also listed information resources, both practical and
policy-oriented, and we considered ourselves to be taking a progressive
approach (I was the editor). Some ag college libraries have them, and I
know the National Ag Library (AFSIC) has a complete set.

I've also got some lists of resources used over the years to teach about ag
& food system issues at the Institute for Social Ecology, but this will
probably repeat suggestions you get from others--I'll add anything left out
when you post it. There's a lot out there these days!

Good luck,

Grace Gershuny
