Potentially useful bit of ancient wisdom that probably applies here:
Jesus said "If someone hits you on the right cheek, turn him your left
cheek."
It doesn't mean what you think it does. In that time and era, people
did things (including strike others) only with their right hand, the
left hand being considered unclean as a result of what it was used for.
If you don't understand this, I'll answer you privately. To strike
someone on the right cheek with the right hand can be done only with a
backhand. This is how subordinates, slaves, and socially 'inferior'
people were struck.
Jesus was saying, in effect, "if someone strikes you as though you are
inferior, be willing to take another blow in order to force him to
strike you as an equal."
Just how this could be done in the case of organic would require some
thought, but as a principle, it's not a bad idea. Unfortunately, this
could be tricky to pull off until we have a lot more successful,
professional organic growers who are the acknowledged equals of their
neighbors in the kinds of things conventional agriculture considers
important. Until then, we will be seen (and struck) as an inferior.
