I find this analysis too simplistic. Bolivia's history includes not
only elected leftist governments but also military coups and military
dictatorships. It will take too long to discuss the issue here, but I
doubt if Bolivia's problems are due to socialism in general, as your
post implies. Cuban socialism is much kinder to children than American
capitalism (considering that Cuba had to keep its economy alive under
decades of economic embargo, and that it doesn't have the access to
resources of other countries that the US has).

I disagree with many aspects of socialism, but to blame it for
Bolivia's woes is pushing it too far.
