Position Announcement
Sacramento Valley Regional Coordinator
(50% time)
The Community Alliance with Family Farmers (CAFF) is working to build
a movement of rural and urban communities to foster family-scale
agriculture that cares for the land, sustains local economies and
promotes social justice. CAFF's programs combine education and
advocacy to promote biological farming, protect farmland and water
resources and increase the economic viability of family farming. The
Southern Sacramento Valley regional coordinator is responsible for
implementing CAFF programs in Yolo, Solano, Sacramento and Colusa
counties. This is a part-time position based in Davis.

Job Responsibilities:
* Coordinate meetings and field days. Coordinate ten to twelve
meetings and field days per year in Yolo, Solano, Sacramento and
Colusa counties. This includes lining up presenters, coordinating
outreach and promotion with CAFF's communications staff, facilitating
meetings, and providing write-ups for program newsletters. Assist
with meetings and activities in other regions.
* Work with local growers, agricultural professionals, policy
makers, researchers, other organizations and the media. Cultivate
relationships and encourage participation in CAFF activities.
Identify potential members and build and maintain local advisory
teams to work with CAFF's Biological Farming program.
Build CAFF visibility in the region. Attend relevant events and
collaborate on local issues.
* Act as staff liaison to CAFF Yolano chapter. Facilitate chapter
core group meetings, provide input to statewide board on local issues
and assist with annual meeting and board member election. Assist with
local fundraising efforts including outreach to local businesses and
building relationships with potential donors.
Qualifications: Experience working with farmers and agricultural
professionals. Knowledge of ecologically based farming systems and
local agricultural issues. Excellent organizational, writing and
communications skills. Experience working with the media. Experience
facilitating group discussions. Ability to work both independently
and as part of a team. Basic computer skills. This position requires
driving a personal vehicle. Must hold a valid California drivers
license, current insurance and demonstrate a good driving record.
Salary and Benefits: Starting salary range $24,000 - 27,000 FTE.
CAFF provides a benefits package that includes three weeks of paid
vacation per year, personal leave, holidays, benefit stipend and
