Position Announcement

Central Coast Program Assistant (50% time)

The Community Alliance with Family Farmers (CAFF) is working to build
a movement of rural and urban communities to foster family-scale
agriculture that cares for the land, sustains local economies and
promotes social justice. CAFF's programs combine education and
advocacy to promote biological farming, protect farmland and water
resources and increase the economic viability of family farming. CAFF
seeks a motivated individual to assist in implementing programs and
chapter activities in the Central Coast region as well as provide
administrative support for the Santa Cruz office. This is a part-time
(20 hours per week) position based in the Santa Cruz office.

Job Responsibilities

* Provide administrative support for the Central Coast office. Manage
small computer network. Update and maintain FileMaker Pro databases.
Produce fliers, postcards and other written materials for local
events and organize mailings. Assist with e-mail management and
information requests.

* Assist in implementing CAFF's programs in the region. Assist with
field days, grower surveys, outreach and development of educational
materials for the Biological Agriculture Systems in Strawberries
Project (BASIS). Represent CAFF at meetings of key collaborators. Sit
on public advisory boards.

* Participate in regional fundraising efforts. Help coordinate
fundraising events and outreach to local businesses and individual
donors.

* Provide organizational support to CAFF's Central Coast chapter.
Coordinate regular chapter steering committee meetings. Help organize
annual Central Coast chapter meeting and board election. Assist with
follow-up on Pajaro Valley Futures Project.

Qualifications: Excellent communication, organizational and
administrative skills. Detail-oriented. Able to work independently as
well as collaborate with others in a team setting. Strong computer
skills including familiarity with MS Word, PageMaker, Excel and
FileMaker Pro. Knowledge of sustainable agriculture issues and
commitment to grassroots change desired.

Salary and Benefits: Starting salary for the position is $21,000 -
24,000 FTE. CAFF provides a benefits package that includes three
weeks of paid vacation per year, personal leave, benefit stipend,
holidays and flexible scheduling. CAFF is committed to recruiting,
