Thank you for your reply, Lion--yes it was sincere.
I grew up on 6-10 acre farms owned by my grandfather & father. They used mules, composting and very little commercial products in their farming. My father was sustainable before the word was coined--but on 6 acres, not 2. This was not too far back--60's-70's, when most were using tractors, power, and the new "science" of agriculture (chemicals). They supported their families with this lifestyle, which of course went far beyond 40 hours a week. They raised most of our meat, all our vegetables, and sold everything else to purchase what we couldn't provide on the farm.
I'm still curious about the 2 acres--I'd like to experiment--will check out the links you provided.
