Subject: Maine Food System Conference

Dear Food System Activist,

You are invited to a conference in which participants will address the
question:

How can we work together to strengthen
Maine's local food system?

A strong local food system is crucial to the health of all Maine people.
We want you to participate in this conference because you are active in
Maine's food system.

We are inviting farmers, fishermen, processors, retailers, chefs, coop
managers, policy makers, nutritionists, consumers and others involved in
the future of Maine food.

You may feel isolated in your own efforts or you may be wondering what
other people are doing around the state. A well-functioning system
acknowledges the connections and supports provided by all its components.

Our goal is to make more connections and enhance existing supports.
Please join us.

Open Space Conference Technique
Many conference-weary folks are revitalized by the Open Space approach to
creating whole systems change and enhancing human performance. It gives
participants an opportunity to create their own agenda by proposing the
topics to be considered and invites them to focus their creativity and
problem solving energy on those issues that concern them most. Open space
establishes a safe and honest forum for diverse people to address complex
issues and requires your commitment to participate for the full day.

What to bring:
Your ideas and commitment to a local food system that is profitable,
equitable, and environmentally sound.

Please attend because you care about this issue.

Cordially,

Jim Hanna
Executive Director
