Hey, everyone--we can all breathe easier now that EPA has made its decision:
Studies show 'heavy metals' not a significant risk
Media reports that "heavy metals" contained in fertilizer
may pose a threat to the health of farmers and consumers
have spurred several studies. Results of three of those
studies have just been released. All three came to the same
conclusion -- that fertilizers are safe when used correctly.
The studies were conducted by the California Department of
Food and Agriculture, the Environmental Protection Agency
and The Fertilizer Institute. Based on its finding, the EPA
says it plans no further regulatory action concerning heavy
metals in fertilizer.
