i'd like to tack another question onto greg's question . . . what additional
claims about livestock are pre-empted by the organic labeling . . . for
example, could a grower label her/his chicken "organic" and "free-ranging"
since free-ranging is not part of organic
cheers,

Subject: Proposed organic livestock standards

Why does the proposed organic rules only require access to fresh air and
sunlight to ruminant animals? I seriously doubt the average organic
consumer expects to be getting factory pork or chicken when they choose
organic.
Best wishes,
