EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR

NATIONAL CAMPAIGN FOR SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled leader to help build a
national movement to advance sustainability. The National Campaign for
Sustainable Agriculture is a network of over 2000 diverse organizations
whose
mission is to shape national policies to foster a sustainable food and
agricultural system -- one that is economically viable, environmentally
sound, socially just, and humane. The Campaign is a recognized leader in
building collaboration between a wide range of groups and shaping public
policy through grassroots advocacy. The Campaign has diverse and committed
leaders and a highly capable staff, and is seeking a new Executive Director
to build on its success and take the organization to a new level of
effectiveness.

Responsibilities:

-Provide overall strategic leadership and vision to the Campaign
-Foster development of the Campaign's issue agenda with its organizations
and
leaders
-Work with other leaders to promote the Campaign's agenda
-Develop and implement strategies to further increase the Campaign's
effectiveness
-Nurture and strengthen an extensive network of organizations, fostering
understanding and collaboration
-Provide overall program and fiscal management, including grant reporting
-Hire, manage, and supervise personnel (3 full-time and 3 part-time staff)
-Implement fundraising plan that includes generating income from grants,
developing a dues-paying membership through direct mail, and other means to
fund the organization
-Develop and work with the Board of Directors
-Guide a communications strategy and serve as a media spokesperson

Desired Qualifications:

-Excellent interpersonal skills
-Proven coalition-building skills; ability to work collaboratively with
diverse constituencies and inspire action
-Demonstrated leadership ability, and ability to support the leadership of
others
-Strong capacity for strategic and analytical thinking
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-Commitment to the mission of the Campaign
-Experience with legislative advocacy, especially working with grassroots
groups
-Successful fundraising track record
-Ability to build an organization and take it to a higher level

Compensation: $42,500-50,000 (Depending on Experience) plus comprehensive
benefits package, including full family health coverage. Full-time
position.

Location: Our preference is to locate the position at our main office in
Pine
Bush, NY (a rural community in the Hudson River Valley, 75 miles from
metropolitan NY). However, candidates unable to relocate will also be
considered.
