Needed: Non-toxic suggestions...
Spring time is fuzzy caterpillar time here on the Mediterranean island
of Cyprus. These critters are real pests. They come in two types:
those that nest in and ultimately destroy pine trees and a type that
seems related but that nests on the ground. They form writhing furry
bundles of hundreds at a time, and if you touch them, you itch.
Most people here spray them with any one of a variety of poisons. I
don't want to do this and all the neighbours think I have cracked. How
do I get rid of these things? I don't have the ones that nest in trees,
just the ground dwellers. I guess I could step on them, but I find the
idea really unappealing.
Also any ideas of how to deter the moths from laying their eggs?
Any advice appreciated.
Rachael Pettus.
