re: Response from Frito-Lay

Lei asked:
"Does anyone else see this as lacking
in commitment, or am I viewing this too harshly?"
My response:
I agree, it is rather disappointing and definately lacking in the
commitment I had hoped for. Still, it is a bit better than most food
companies outside the organic field are willing to do.
For myself, GM food simply gives me a stronger incentive to buy organic
or buy locally from growers I know personally.
However, I am delighted with the many seed companies (Johnny's included
despite their even less satisfactory response last spring) that print the
Safe Seed Pledge (will "not knowingly buy or sell genetically engineered
seeds or plants.") along with contact information for the Safe Seed
Initiative.
Regards, Edna
