One can hardly not react when subjected to such a crass and deeply
personal violation of physical and intellectual integrity, across the
board. And it takes all kinds of reactions to overturn this menace to
life and the world as we know it.

I have consistently stated that it be "delayed" from food and the
general environment until such time as sufficient data unequivocally
shows that no unforeseen damage to public health or the environment
will be forthcoming, with no withholding from biomedical applications
that address pathologies (rather than the quality of life for all
concerned).
The driving force behind most GMO development has nothing to do with
correcting pathologies other than greed, and on the inflaming end -
it's the proprietary nature (or denature) of the organisms that's
attractive, along with the molding / dependency relationship that can
be bred into them with regard to other proprietary products. This is
legitimate in medications (where each manufacturer wants his own
quinalone or 4th generation cephalosporin, for example), not in food;
and that's categorical, just as it's safe to say the Senator is under
pressure or on the take; so he has to be careful to justify his
stance..

The basis to which you refer is gained by living in an evolutionary
biological world, insisting on that and by eating pure and whole food,
just for starters. While some of us are already closer to that than
others, one can come as close to "winning as needed by making a choice
and making it vocally known, by statement and deed. (Buy no GMO
products nor deal with a company offering them, push for legislation
obligating disclose and delay of release of GMO to the biosphere. Long
term studies are in order, very long term).
