Hello All!
My husband has gotten tired of listening to my numerous complaints regarding the USDA and has suggested that I start sending Sec. Glickman one postcard a day until my list of complaints has dried up. So, if anyone has any sources of info regarding some USDA policy that seems biased against sustainable ag. or family farms, or policies that clearly favor large, factory farms, or just something that doesn't seem right, please feel free to send them to me. (I also plan on sending my congressmen copies of these postcards.) I think that this may get a little more attention than sending e-mails, although e-mails are much more convenient. If anyone else would like to join my "postcard campaign" please feel free to do so. I can get you the address if you want it!
My first few postcards are most likely going to deal with the Iowa delegates that were refused by Sec. Glickman for the Pork Forum and current "check-off" programs and referendums. Then there's the issue of farm payments and the limit being removed on those so that large farms keep getting more government handouts. (I think this may keep me busy until my 5 year old starts college! ;)
Thanks for any suggestions you may have to offer!
