RE: Kosher Approaches to Sustainable Agriculture
The points brought up can be extended to Halal food for Moslems, any genetic
materials from animals for followers of Hindu or Buddhism. What about the
use of human genetic material in rice in Japan to provide a new type of
resistance to some herbicide (current research)? The role of ethics, morals
and religious belief is one of the most valid reasons I have seen to bring
much needed social debate out of the realm of (mostly self-interested)
universities and government regulatory agencies and into a wider social
forum.
Thank you for bringing this to the Sanet!
