I have been looking into some old family history and in reading a lease my
grandfather signed, I was struck by the verbal image binding a contract.
Not that I am surprised by change or that I even know how farm leases are
worded now but this really stuck me when I first read this line which
appeared following the terms of the lease:
IN WITTNESS WHEREOF, We have here unto set our hands, this 12 day of Nov.
1915.
