Position Announcement: Biodynamic Cut Flower Grower

Description: To develop and run a five acre commercial cut flower and herb
business for a 100 acre non profit organic farm whose mission is to
alleviate hunger through the production/donation of organic vegetables and
fruit to the emergency food agencies that feed the needy. Garden Harvest is
also an educational institution with an active USDA funded apprencticeship
program teaching sustainable agribulture, nutritition, and issues of global
food security. Located in Glyndon, Md.,just 20 miles NW of Baltimore, Garden
Harvest is ideally located near metropolitan areas replete with restaruants,
florists, and businesses interested in subscribing to flower deliveries. Of
the five acres specified for flowers, 2-3 acres are already planted in
perennial flowers and herbs.

Requirements: Knowledge and experience in the production, post harvest
handling, and marketing of cut flowers. Similar knowledge of herbs(culinary
&/or medicinal) is not required, yet helpful. Strong entrepreneurial ability
to take a business and run with it. Ability to work hard in the field; as
well as to supervise staff and volunteers. Sincere dedication to
sustainable practices, and some interest in the non profit mission.

Start Date: negotiable

Financial remuneration: A base wage based on experience, and a percentage
of the profits, based on performance.
